How to Stop School Violence in SVG: The “Seasider Discipline” Plan for Our Youth

The March 2026 National Consultation on School Violence confirmed what every mother in Union Island and Canouan already feels: a deep-seated fear for our children’s safety. While others call for more meetings, the Southern Grenadines needs a model that actually works.

“On the NCAA basketball courts at BYU-Hawaii, I didn’t see police in the locker rooms—I saw coaches who demanded excellence. Discipline isn’t about punishment; it’s about purpose. We stop the violence when we give our youth a bigger arena to win in.”

Moving Beyond “School Police”

Treating our schools like prisons only breeds more rebellion. To secure the future of the Southern Grenadines, we must replace the cycle of “policing” with the Seasider Discipline—a mentorship-first approach focused on three key pillars:

  • The Coach-Mentor Initiative: Replace traditional security guards with trained “Coach-Mentors.” These are professionals vetted to provide both physical safety and elite-level sports or technical guidance.
  • High-Performance Village Hubs: We will transform community centers into rigorous training hubs for sports, music, and digital coding. We must out-compete the streets by offering a more attractive path to success.
  • The Global Scholarship Pipeline: Utilizing my international collegiate network to create direct “Discipline Pipelines.” If our youth show the effort, we provide the path to colleges abroad.

Leadership is Not a Consultation

The Southern Grenadines cannot wait for a mainland committee to decide our children’s fate. We need a Coach-in-Chief who understands that the only way to stop a bad habit is to replace it with a better one. That is the Seasider way.
